Home server & VPS setup
Personal project · 2026 – ongoing
Summary
My own headless Linux server at home plus a couple of rented VPSs, all managed over SSH. I use it to host websites for a few friends on my own domain, and a Minecraft server.
What I built
- My home network is behind CGNAT, so it can't be reached directly from the internet. To get around that I set up a WireGuard tunnel to a VPS, which acts as the public entry point.
- Caddy runs as reverse proxy on the VPS, with automatic HTTPS.
- Services run with Docker Compose.
- I handle DNS, firewall rules, logs and troubleshooting myself.

Why it's interesting to me
It's the "owning the whole chain" part, not just writing something, but making it reachable, secure and running. Working around CGNAT made me learn how the networking actually works.
