About me
Hi, I'm Emil, a developer in Sweden. I studied Software Engineering at Linnaeus University for three years, mainly Java, algorithms, data structures and systems development.
I've worked as a full-stack developer and as a freelance developer (Unity, .NET, Java). Swedish is my native language and I'm fluent in English.
What I enjoy about programming
Understanding how things work underneath
I like working closer to the lower levels, not just what code does, but how it runs. Refactoring a game from object-oriented to data-oriented design (Unity DOTS/ECS) was one of my favourite things to work on, because it made me think about how data is laid out and processed. More on that project.
Owning the whole chain
I like being responsible for something from architecture and code all the way to it actually running, which is why I run my own servers.
Linux, networking and infrastructure
A long-running interest that I keep developing through my own home server and VPS setup.
Games
I've worked on an indie 3D game, a multiplayer backend for mobile games and a Minecraft mod.
